2019年(北半球の)夏、オーストラリアとニュージーランドに行ってきます。
初めてのオーストラリアなのですが、必ずやっておきたいことは
シドニーのオペラハウス観光
でも、
エアーズロック登頂
でもありません。
それは、
ヴァージン・オーストラリア(VA)の搭乗
です。
今回は家族連れなので、自分の分は有償で購入して修行の足しにするのですが家族の分はマイレージを利用して予約をします。
もちろん、できるだけ少ないマイレージ数で予約できるのが一番いいので、VA提携航空会社の中でどの航空会社が一番お得なのか、調べてみました。

VAについて
ヴァージン・オーストラリア(VA)はオーストラリア第2の航空会社で、ライバルのカンタス航空(QF)やニュージーランド航空(NZ)に押されがちな航空会社です。

VAフライトはどのマイレージプログラムがいいのか
VAはオーストラリア・ニュージーランドを中心に就航していますが、今回は主なルートである
・シドニー(SYD) – メルボルン(MEL)
・オークランド(AKL) – メルボルン(MEL)
に絞って必要マイレージ数を紹介したいと思います。
シドニー(SYD) – メルボルン(MEL)間
MEL – SYDで片道ビジネスクラスを購入しようとすると、JPY37,000くらいです。

EYマイレージが群を抜いて少ないです。
もしEYマイレージをキャンペーンなどで1マイルあたりJPY2で購入したとすると、JPY27,600。
通常の航空券がJPY37,000くらいなので、1マイルあたりJPY1.34の価値しか出せないこととなり損ですが、アメックスなどのポイントを移行するのであればお得な使い方と言えるでしょう。
オークランド(AKL) – メルボルン(MEL)
AKL – MELで片道ビジネスクラスを購入しようとすると、JPY40,000くらいです。

やはりこちらも、EYマイレージが群を抜いて少ないです。
逆に、VAマイレージはとても損な使い方、ということになりそうです。
まとめ
オーストラリア国内、ニュージーランドをヴァージン・オーストラリア(VA)で移動するには、
EYマイレージを利用する
ということになりますね。
※ただし、マイレージを購入してしまうとお得ではなくなる
という訳で、EYマイレージを利用してMEL – SYD間の家族2人分(ADT1, CHD1)の予約を行いました。
アメックスのポイントを移行したので、必要だったのは諸税のみ。
だいぶコストを抑えられたかなと思います 🙂

ちなみに、同じくオーストラリア・ニュージランド間のフライトをカンタス航空(QF)で行う場合には、ブリティッシュ・エアウェイズ(BA)のAviosが一番いいと思います。
MEL – AKL間はビジネスクラス片道22,000Aviosです(結構距離があります)。
