常に新しい機材で、最高のサービスを提供しているシンガポール航空(SQ)ですが、全てが全て最新機材、という訳ではありません。
少し前の機材でも、まだ使えるうちは使うのでまだ古い機材を利用している路線も結構あります。
先日搭乗したジャカルタ(CGK) – シンガポール(SIN)線がそのいい例で、SQらしからぬ結構残念な感じの機材でした。

敢えてこういうレトロな感じの機材を楽しみたい！という場合は別ですが、せっかくSQに搭乗するならできるだけ新しい機材に搭乗したいですよね。
そこで、2019年7月現在これらの「残念な」機材で運航されている(日本人がよく使うであろう)都市をまとめてみたので、これらの機材を避ける際の参考となれば幸いです。

「残念な」機材
2019年7月現在、SQが保有している機材は以下の通りとなっています。

今回「残念な」機材として定義するのは
・エアバス A330-300
・ボーイング B777-200(777-200ERではありません)
・ボーイング B777-300(777-300ERではありません)
で、座席の配列は2-2-2のものです。
なので、窓側の席に座ると隣の人に「すみません」と言って動かないと通路に出ることができません。
この機材で運航している路線で、フライト時間が5時間を超えるような路線を紹介したいと思います。

上記の通り、1つの都市で複数便運航している場合その便だけを避ければ他の便は新し目の機材に乗ることができるので、積極的に避けるといいかもですね。
KIX, HNDはもちろんボーイング B787-10で運航している便名もありますし、成田(NRT)にはエアバス A380が就航しています。

(時期によって機材は色々変わります。自分が以前搭乗したB787-10は、SQ618便でした)
もしWLG線でこの機材に当たってしまった場合、フルフラットにもならず斜めの状態で寝ることになるのですが、これで11時間のフライトはビジネスクラスなのにもったいないなぁ・・・という印象です。
まとめ
色々と酷いことを書いてしまいましたが、逆に言うとこれらの機材で運航されている路線はスターアライアンスなど提携航空会社のマイレージで予約ができるということになります。
SQは機材によって特典航空券で予約できるのを自社マイレージプログラムのみに限定していたりするので、機材は二の次でどうしてもその日にその場所へ行きたい、という場合には逆の意味で参考になるかもしれません。
エアバスA380や、ボーイング B787-10あたりはSQマイレージでないと予約ができないんですね。
