先日、ブリティッシュ・エアウェイズ(BA)が保有しているボーイング B747機材の即時退役を発表しました。
悲しいお知らせ。
BAのB747機材、30機全部即時退役だそうです…。
ACC線辺りはファーストクラスが結構空いていたので乗りに行こうかなと思っていたんですが、結局BAのB747には一度も搭乗できませんでした。

さよならフライトも一切なし。
自分は結局一度も搭乗することなく、あまりにも突然すぎるお別れとなってしまいましたが、それまでB747機材で運航していた路線の、以降の運航はどの機材で行われるのでしょうか？

興味深いのは、BAはまだエアバスA380を運航するということ。
同じ2階建ての機材ですが、A380の方が運用年数が短いために継続するという判断をしたのでしょうか。
また、A350機材がJFK路線では利用されていないのも面白いですね。
A350機材にはファーストクラスの設定がないので、ファーストクラスに搭乗するビジネスパーソンに配慮したのでしょうか。
まとめ
ちなみに羽田(HND)線は、B787-9またはB777-300ER機材での運用となっています。
BAはB747退役発表よりも前に、ボーイング B777-9機材を発注していて、2022年にデビューする予定となっています。
この機材にはClub Suiteが搭載されています。
以前搭乗しましたが、個人的にはBAファーストクラスのシートよりも好きです 🙂
